Job summary

Mercy Health in Cincinnati seeks a Clinical Unit Leader – West Hospital to coordinate patient care on a designated unit within the Emergency Department - West. The Lead RN/Charge Nurse partners with the Clinical Manager to maintain clinical excellence, patient satisfaction and efficient resource use.

The role involves guiding staff, ensuring safety and infection control, and serving as a clinical resource for the team.

Qualifications

• RN license in state of practice or compact license
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred on hire)
• Certifications depend on unit supervised (preferred)
• PALS, ACLS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, NBCC or other specialty certifications preferred
• National Board Certification or advanced specialty certification preferred
• 2 years nursing experience with 1 year in acuity level of desired area preferred

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care on a designated unit.
• Collaborate with Clinical Manager to optimize care delivery and staffing.
• Guide staff and oversee unit in the absence of the leader.
• Ensure environmental safety standards and infection control.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families about care plans.
• Mentor staff and promote teamwork and conflict resolution.
• Lead interprofessional collaboration to ensure care coordination.
• Support quality monitoring and performance improvement initiatives.
