Mercy Health is seeking a Clinical Unit Leader for St. Charles Hospital.

The Lead RN/Charge Nurse will coordinate patient care on a designated unit in collaboration with the Clinical Manager, guiding staff and ensuring efficient resource use while promoting clinical excellence and patient satisfaction. The role requires strong leadership, interprofessional collaboration, and commitment to evidence-based practice with a focus on safety and quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state they are working or covered by a compact license.
• BSN preferred; ongoing professional development encouraged.
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire; must obtain from approved source).
• Unit-specific certifications may be required based on the unit overseen.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care on a designated unit.
• Adjust schedules and assignments to meet acuity and staffing needs.
• Provide guidance and oversight in the absence of the unit leader.
• Maintain safety and infection control standards.
• Communicate with patients and families about care plans.
• Round on patients to monitor safety and experience.
• Serve as a resource to staff, patients, and families.
• Mentor staff and serve as a preceptor when needed.
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve operational issues.
• Participate in quality monitoring and performance improvement.
• Coordinate admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
