Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Lead RN/Charge Nurse to coordinate patient care on a designated unit, in partnership with the Clinical Manager. The role requires adjusting staffing for acuity, mentoring staff, and ensuring safety and quality in care delivery.

You will engage in interprofessional teamwork, communicate care plans to patients and families, and drive continuous improvement initiatives while aligning with Mercy Health values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Current RN license in state of practice or compact licensure.
• BLS certification preferred on hire; must be obtained before patient care.
• Unit-specific certifications (PALS, ACLS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, NB Certification, Nurse Exec) preferred.
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience with 1 year in acuity level of desired area.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates patient care on a designated unit in collaboration with the Clinical Manager.
• Adjusts schedule and assignments to accommodate acuity and resources.
• Mentors and supports staff; may serve as unit leader in absence of the unit leader.
• Maintains safety and infection control standards; uses supplies and equipment appropriately.
• Communicates with patients and families about nursing interventions and care plans.
• Rounds on patients to assess safety, quality and experience.
• Acts as a resource to staff, patients and families to ensure effective communication.
• Participates in ongoing quality monitoring and performance improvement activities.
• Facilitates patient placement and safe admission, transfer and discharge processes.
• Provides feedback and mentoring to nursing and support staff.
• Promotes teamwork and conflict resolution; fosters open communication.
• Engages in interprofessional collaborative practice to ensure care coordination.
