Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health Bridgeport Hospital is seeking an entry-level clinical pharmacist to join its patient-centered team. You will review medications, monitor for safety, and support the department in delivering high-quality care within a hospital setting that emphasizes CHAMP behaviors.

Qualified candidates hold a Connecticut Pharmacist License or are eligible for licensure; a PharmD or B.S. in Pharmacy is required, with a PGY1 residency desired but not mandatory.

Qualifications

  • Requires a B.S. or PharmD from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency is desirable but not required.
  • Current Connecticut Pharmacist License or eligibility for licensure in Connecticut.

Responsibilities

  • Customer Service Quality: Demonstrate and promote CHAMP behaviors.
  • Medication Management: Conduct timely, accurate medication order review considering patient characteristics, labs, and vitals.
  • Medication Preparation and Distribution: Demonstrate competency in pharmacy automation and technology as applicable.
  • Medication Safety, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality Assurance: Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Leadership: Provide education and training to pharmacy staff, students, and residents.
  • Financial/Volume Results: Contribute to cost-reduction and revenue generation.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy with a B.S. or PharmD degree

EXPERIENCE

Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency or equivalent experience is desirable, but not required. Hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.

LICENSURE

Current Connecticut Pharmacist License, or eligible for pharmacist licensure in the state of Connecticut

SPECIAL SKILLS

This individual should demonstrate basic knowledge of pharmacology and therapeutics, and understand pharmacy systems of drug distribution and formulary management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with others are required.
