Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health—Bridgeport Hospital is seeking an entry-level clinical pharmacist to support patient-centered care within our Pharmacy Department. The role emphasizes CHAMP behaviors, medication order review, and collaboration with the care team.

The position requires a PharmD or B.S. in Pharmacy, a CT license or eligibility, and strong communication skills; completion of a PGY1 residency is desirable though not mandatory. Health system experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy with a B.S. or PharmD degree.
  • ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency desirable, hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Current Connecticut Pharmacist License or eligible for licensure in CT.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with others.

Responsibilities

  • 1.Customer Service Quality: Demonstrate CHAMP behaviors and promote patient-centered care.
  • 2.Medication Management: Review medication orders considering patient characteristics, labs, and vital signs.
  • 3.Medication Preparation and Distribution: Demonstrate competency in pharmacy automation and technology as applicable.
  • 4.Medication Safety, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality Assurance: Adhere to all department policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • 5.Leadership: Provide education and training to pharmacy staff, students, residents, and health care team members.
  • 6.Financial/Volume Results: Support departmental cost-reduction and revenue generation.

Qualifications
EDUCATION

Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy with a B.S. or PharmD degree

EXPERIENCE

Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency or equivalent experience is desirable, but not required. Hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.

LICENSURE

Current Connecticut Pharmacist License, or eligible for pharmacist licensure in the state of Connecticut

SPECIAL SKILLS

This individual should demonstrate basic knowledge of pharmacology and therapeutics, and understand pharmacy systems of drug distribution and formulary management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with others are required.
