Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Clinical Nursing Student to provide direct patient care under RN supervision in the Med-Surg unit at West Hospital. This role offers clinical experience through job shadowing and hands-on patient care within regulatory guidelines.

The student will contribute to safe patient care, document care, and participate in shift hand-offs while developing critical nursing skills in a supportive, faith-based health system.

Qualifications

• HS/GED required.
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program with at least one clinical course and rotation completed.
• BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop critical thinking in collaboration with the RN to ensure quality patient care.
• Provide basic patient care including vital signs, personal care, and mobility.
• Serve as liaison between patient and nurse and report changes promptly.
• Deliver high-quality customer service to patients, families, and staff.
• Document patient care accurately and on time.
• Participate in hand-offs and report relevant information.
• Perform delegated tasks after competency validation.
• Assist with data collection (vital signs, intake/outtake, condition changes).
• Support hygiene and daily living activities and patient mobility.
