Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Clinical Nursing Student for the Progressive Care Unit at West Hospital. The student provides direct patient care under RN supervision, gaining clinical experience through shadowing and hands-on care within regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities include assisting with nursing processes, basic patient care, vital signs, documentation, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Qualifications

• HS/GED or equivalent required.
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program with at least one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
• BLS certification preferred.
• Recent experience in acute or long-term care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under RN guidance, supports the nursing process.
• Develops critical thinking with the RN to ensure quality care.
• Provides basic patient care: hygiene, vital signs, mobility.
• Acts as liaison reporting changes to the nurse.
• Delivers high level customer service to patients and families.
• Documents care accurately and timely.
• Participates in hand-off/shift change communications.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency is validated.
• Participates in patient data collection (vital signs, intake/output).
• Assists with ADLs, mobility, feeding, hydration, and elimination.
