Job summary

Mercy Health’s St. Joseph Warren Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nursing Student to gain clinical experience under the guidance of Registered Nurses, combining patient care with job shadowing and clinical rotations.

The role involves assisting with basic patient care, documenting vitals, mobility, and hygiene, while collaborating with the nursing team to ensure safety and quality care. Enrolled nursing students with clinical rotation experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• HS/GED (required) Currently enrolled in a nursing program and has completed one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation (required)
• BLS (preferred)
• Recent experience in acute care and/or long term care facility (preferred)
• Must have completed First Clinical Rotation

Responsibilities

• Under direction of the RN, supports the nurse in the application of the nursing process
• Develops critical thinking through collaboration with the RN to ensure quality patient care
• Seeks educational opportunities related to nursing practice and critical thinking
• Provides basic patient care including care and comfort, vital signs, personal care and hygiene, mobility
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns
• Provides high level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff
• Documents patient care accurately and timely
• Participates in hand-off reports and transfer of information
• Performs delegated tasks once competency is validated
• Participates in data collection (vital signs, intake/output, condition changes)
• Assists with activities of daily living and mobility, feeding, hydration and elimination
• Uses clinical technology as applicable
• Escalates concerns appropriately through the command chain
