Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Clinical Nursing Student in Med-Surg to assist with direct patient care under RN supervision at West Hospital. The role focuses on hands-on experience during nursing rotations and shadowing, while applying nursing principles in a hospital setting.

You will work under guidance to develop critical thinking, perform basic patient care, and ensure accurate documentation and smooth shifts. Ideal for students seeking clinical exposure in acute care environments.

Qualifications

• HS/GED required; nursing student with clinical rotation experience preferred.
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program and completed one clinical nursing course and rotation.
• Experience with EPIC EHR is a plus (training may be provided).

Responsibilities

• Support the nurse with the nursing process to deliver patient care.
• Develop critical thinking through collaboration with the RN to ensure quality care.
• Provide basic patient care: comfort, vital signs, hygiene, mobility.
• Act as liaison between patient and nurse and report changes.
• Deliver high-level customer service to patients, families, staff.
• Document patient care accurately and timely.
• Assist with hand-offs and data collection (vital signs, intake/output).
• Perform delegated tasks once competency is validated.
