Job summary

Atrius Health, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Medical Assistant for our Internal Medicine department in Medford, MA. This full-time role supports clinicians with routine procedures, pre-visit prep, EMR updates and direct patient care in the exam room.

Responsibilities include coordinating tests, taking vitals, preparing patients for exams and ensuring accurate EMR data. The position offers an hourly pay range and comprehensive benefits, with eligibility for required certifications.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency certificate from an accredited institution or governmental unit or a Medical Assistant Certification
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
• Proven knowledge of reagent stability and storage
• Demonstrated understanding testing procedures and factors influencing test results
• Computer experience with the ability to use word processing and spreadsheet programs. EMR experience and/or aptitude to master the EMR based on other technology experience

Responsibilities

• Provides efficient flow of patients to optimize patient appointment availability
• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms according to policy and procedures
• Prepare patient for examination; Measures vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse rate, weight, and height
• Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures and/or additional tests specific to the department
• Ensures patients' EMR is updated with medical information and demographics
• Keeps patients informed of visit status and delays
• Reconcile medications and set up pending refills
• Assist in resolving patients' concerns and complaints
• Orders and performs point of care testing (waived testing)
