Job summary

Atrius Health, part of the Optum family, seeks a Medical Assistant Per Diem to support clinicians across its eastern Massachusetts network. You will assist with exams, take vitals, prepare patients, and ensure EMR documentation is complete.

The role emphasizes patient flow, medication reconciliation, and supporting waived point-of-care tests. Prior clinical or customer service experience and MA certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency; Medical Assistant Certification.
• Experience typically 1+ years in a clinical or customer service setting as determined by the department.
• Graduate of medical assistant certification program or equivalent credential.

Responsibilities

• Provides efficient flow of patients to optimize appointment availability.
• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms according to policy and procedures.
• Prepare patient for examination; Measures vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse rate, weight, and height.
• Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures and/or additional tests specific to the department.
• Ensures EMR is updated with medical information, including recent testing and consultations.
• Keeps patients informed of visit status and delays.
• Reconcile medications and manages refills.
• Assist in resolving patient concerns as appropriate.
• Orders and performs point of care testing (waived) such as strep, urine, hCG, and glucose.
