Job summary

ModernMD Urgent Care seeks a capable Medical Assistant to support physicians and clinicians in a fast-paced urgent care setting. Responsibilities include patient intake, phlebotomy, EKG, lab orders, and accurate EMR documentation to ensure efficient flow and high-quality care.

The role requires a high school diploma and at least 1 year of healthcare experience; strong attention to detail and excellent communication are essential. Fluency in multiple languages is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of one year in a healthcare setting, preferably urgent care.
  • Strong knowledge of technical skills related to certification and job function.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of organization.
  • Ability to work with multiple managers and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; team player.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and vitals for each visit.
  • Perform phlebotomy and EKG as needed.
  • Execute lab orders and occupational health physicals, including forms, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
  • Retrieve lab results for provider review.
  • Assist with setup of procedures, as directed by provider.
  • Document all clinical services accurately in the EMR.
  • Manage patient throughput in the back office for timely rooming, exam, and discharge.
  • Assist with Occupational Health duties and patients.
  • Greet and register patients, verify insurance, and collect payments.
  • Answer and route phone calls, and respond to patient questions timely.
