Job summary

ModernMD Urgent Care in New York is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians with patient intake, specimen collection, phlebotomy, EKGs, and point‑of‑care testing. You will document services in the EMR, help manage patient flow, and assist with occupational health duties to keep visits safe and efficient.

You will organize supplies, maintain exam room cleanliness, and ensure timely communication of results to employers and MROs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (minimum required).
• Minimum of one (1) year’s experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in urgent care.
• Strong knowledge of all technical skills associated with certification and job function.
• Strong attention to detail while maintaining a high level of organization.
• Ability to work effectively with multiple managers and key stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and diplomacy skills – team player who takes initiative and maintains a professional demeanor across all interactions.
• Fluency in Spanish, Bengali, Arabic, Creole, French, or Hindi, a plus.

Responsibilities

• Using our WOWs, obtain patient vitals, physical stats, and medical history for each patient visit.
• Perform phlebotomy and EKG as needed.
• Execute lab, procedure orders and occupational health physicals, including completing appropriate forms, collecting and preparing specimens, and conducting point‑of‑care testing.
• Retrieve laboratory and ancillary test results for review by provider.
• Assist provider with setup of medical procedures, as needed/directed by provider.
• Document all clinical services performed in the EMR accurately and completely.
• Direct patient throughput and flow in the back office, ensuring patients are roomed, examined, and discharged timely and in an organized fashion.
• Assist with Occupational Health duties & patients.
• Organize medical supplies at the MA station and in exam rooms, according to company best practice, restocking rooms as needed.
• Ensure the cleanliness and appearance of exam rooms for patients.
• Complete daily procedure checklists.
• Coordinate the timely results delivery to employers and MRO’s.
• Maintain 100% compliance with company trainings and policies.
• Welcome new team members and provide support, as needed.
• Respond to and execute on email communications timely.
