Job summary

St. Charles Health System in Bend, OR is seeking a Medical Assistant to manage daily patient flow for assigned physicians and gather information for health assessments. You will support triage, prepare exam rooms, and maintain medical data in patient charts.

The role requires basic ICD-10/CPT/HCPCS knowledge, familiarity with practice management systems, and HIPAA compliance. A high school diploma or GED is required; MA program graduates are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have basic knowledge of ICD-10, CM/CPT/HCPCS coding conventions and procedures.
• Working knowledge of medical practice management information systems.
• Basic knowledge of physician office documentation standards.
• HIPAA compliance experience.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to exam rooms and prepares for physician assessment.
• Records and maintains patient's medical data in patient's medical chart.
• Assists physician with answering phone requests from patients and/or other medical professionals and institutions.
• Performs a variety of physician-requested ancillary and/or surgical patient procedures. (This excludes the administration of IV medication.)
• Maintains equipment, instruments supply inventory levels.
• Delivers customer service and/or patient care in a manner that is timely, efficient, and accurate.
• Supports Lean principles of continuous improvement with energy and enthusiasm, functioning as a champion of change.
• Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
• Conducts all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
