Job summary

Trinity Health in Des Moines, IA seeks a Medical Assistant to deliver patient care, collect vital signs, and document care plans. You will assist with procedures and administer medications under provider supervision, while maintaining charts and communicating test results to patients.

The role requires completion of an accredited MA program and attainment of a recognized MA certification within one year, as well as BLS within 3 months.

Qualifications

• Must complete an accredited medical assistant program (CAAHP/ABHES).
• Must obtain one of the listed MA certifications within one year of hire.
• BLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire.
• Proficient in basic computer skills (Windows, email, MS Office).

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care through preparation, vital sign collection, and documentation.
• Administer medications, treatments, and immunizations under provider direction.
• Prepare and organize patient charts; document plans and test results; communicate results and care plans to patients.
• Schedule procedures, labs, x-rays, and surgeries; coordinate post-visit care and referrals.
• Coordinate physician schedules and insurance pre-certifications; manage patient follow-ups.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to standards; educate patients and families as needed.
