Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (CAAHP/ABHES).
• Must obtain one of the listed certifications within one year of hire (CMA, RMA, NCMA, CMA-ACMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NRCMA, NPCE).
• BLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire.
• Proficient in Windows-based computers and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care through preparation, vital signs, and documentation.
• Administer medications, treatments, and immunizations under provider direction.
• Prepare and organize patient charts and documentation; communicate test results and care plans.
• Schedule procedures, labs, x-rays, and surgeries; provide pre- and post-surgery information.
• Coordinate scheduling and ensure insurance pre-certifications; manage patient follow-ups and continuity of care.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to organizational standards and policies.
• Educate patients and families based on assessed needs and discharge plans.
• Proactively serves as a patient advocate with professional etiquette.
• Assist in training new colleagues and cross-coverage in clinic areas.
• Document plans, tests, and results in medical records; escalate issues as needed.
• Ensure safety checklists and quality controls are completed.
