Job summary

GBMC HealthCare is seeking a clinical laboratory professional to perform diagnostic testing on blood and specimens under general supervision. The role includes instrument calibration, quality control, and reporting results to support patient diagnosis and treatment. The candidate will hold a B.S.

in Medical Technology or related science with required laboratory experience; an A.S. with four years of experience is also acceptable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related science with 2 years clinical lab experience
• Two years additional experience in a related clinical laboratory (if B.S. in related science)
• Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with four years related clinical lab experience

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic (waived, moderate and highly complex) testing on blood and other biological specimens and reports results.
• Calibrates, performs quality checks, and maintains clinical laboratory instruments and equipment; corrects basic malfunctions.
• Prepares reagents or media per procedure or literature.
• Conducts and documents quality control procedures on tests, equipment, reagents, and products; evaluates QC results and implements corrective action.
• Orients and supervises students and less experienced staff; shares scientific principles as needed.
• Monitors quality improvement processes and participates in gathering information on QC indicators.
• Develops new programs and evaluates change as part of a multi-functional team.
• Participates in continuing education and shares knowledge through presentations.
