Job summary

GBMC HealthCare in Baltimore, MD is seeking a clinical laboratory technologist to perform diagnostic testing across waived, moderate and highly complex categories. You will ensure accurate processing, calibration, quality control, and timely reporting of results.

The role includes mentoring students, participating in quality improvement, and contributing to education programs within a collaborative, patient-centered laboratory team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related science with two years of related laboratory experience.
• Alternative path: BS in applicable science plus two years of related clinical lab experience.
• Or an Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with four years of related clinical lab experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic testing (waived, moderate and highly complex) on blood and other specimens and reports results accurately.
• Calibrates, conducts performance checks and maintains clinical laboratory instruments and equipment; corrects malfunctions.
• Prepares reagents or media as required by procedures or literature.
• Conducts and documents quality control procedures and evaluates QC results with corrective action when needed.
• Orients and supervises students/new staff, presenting scientific principles as needed.
• Monitors quality improvement indicators and participates in data gathering.
• Develops new programs and monitors effectiveness as part of a multi-functional team.
• Participates in continuing education and shares knowledge through presentations.
