Job summary

Indian Health Service is seeking a Medical Technician (Laboratory Support) to perform a broad range of clinical laboratory tests, including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, and blood banking, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting. The role involves specimen collection, processing, and documenting results within LIS, while adhering to CAP, CLIA, and safety standards.

You will troubleshoot abnormal results, operate and maintain instruments, and support quality assurance activities

Qualifications

• Minimum general and specialized laboratory experience as described in GS-4/GS-5/GS-6/GS-7 levels.
• CLIA-waived testing and quality control documentation.
• Specimen collection, labeling, and accessioning into LIS.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking.
• Evaluate test results and troubleshoot to ensure accuracy.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain laboratory instruments; prepare reagents and culture media; monitor QC.
• Collect and process specimens and track in laboratory systems.
• Support quality assurance, CAP/CLIA compliance and safety requirements.
