Job summary

Southern California Hospitals seeks a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform a broad range of analytical tests across Chemistry, Immunology, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology and Blood Bank. The CLS ensures accurate, reliable, and timely patient results and supports communications within the hospital.

The role requires California CLS licensure, the ability to work with diverse teams, strong English communication, and flexibility for variable shifts and overtime.

Qualifications

• Current Licensure as a CLS in California.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the hospital.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Must be willing to work variable shifts and overtime as required.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only).
• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science/Biological Science or Equivalent.

Responsibilities

• The CLS performs laboratory testing across Chemistry, Immunology, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology and Blood Bank.
• Ensures accuracy, reliability and timeliness of patient test results.
• Adheres to quality control policies; documents calibrations and maintenance.
• Provides empathetic communication with patients and staff.
• Maintains records of tests and proficiency samples.
• Identifies and troubleshoots testing issues and notifies supervisor as needed.
• Follows procedures for handling and disposal of specimens, reagents and biohazard waste.
• Maintains proficiency testing and test result documentation.
