Job summary

Los Angeles Community Hospitals is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform chemistry, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology and blood bank analyses. You will ensure accurate, reliable and timely patient test results and support communication across the hospital.

Requires California CLS license and a Bachelor's in medical technology or related field; strong English communication; willingness to work variable shifts; and experience with lab systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or Equivalent.
• Current California CLS license is required.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the hospital.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Willingness to work variable shifts and overtime.
• Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only)
• Experience with lab/hospital computer systems and software (preferred).
• Bilingual skills to communicate with patients and families (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing, quality control, and distribution of test results accurately and timely.
• Adhere to quality control policies; document calibrations and maintenance.
• Participate in departmental process improvements and meet STAT and routine turnaround times.
• Demonstrate empathy and care for patients across ages and cultural backgrounds.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues affecting test performance and notify leadership as needed.
• Follow procedures for handling and disposal of specimens, reagents, and biohazard waste.
• Maintain records ensuring proficiency testing samples are tested like patient specimens.
