Job summary

Hunterdon Health seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to perform high-complexity tests and support diagnostic workflows in the hospital laboratory. You will handle specimen processing, report results, and maintain quality control under the supervision of laboratory leadership.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in laboratory science, completes an accredited training program, and is ASCP/AMT registry eligible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited clinical laboratory training program or U.S. Military Laboratory Specialist Course.
• New graduates welcome; 1+ year clinical lab experience preferred.
• ASCP or AMT registry eligible (degree plus clinical lab experience).
• ASCP or AMT Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows specimen handling and processing procedures, test analyses, reporting, and maintains patient records.
• Maintains records that show proficiency testing samples are tested like patient samples.
• Adheres to Quality Control policies and documents calibrations and maintenance.
• Follows policies when test systems are outside accepted performance.
• Identifies problems affecting test performance and corrects or escalates.
• Documents corrective actions when test systems deviate from specs.
