Job summary

Atlantic Health Newton Medical Center in Newton, NJ is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform high/moderate complexity testing under supervision. You will process specimens, follow SOPs, report results, and ensure quality control in a fast-paced clinical laboratory.

You will operate and troubleshoot equipment, participate in proficiency testing, manage inventory, and train staff while maintaining regulatory compliance and patient safety.

Qualifications

• CLIA high-complexity testing eligibility required: multiple pathways listed (MD/DO, doctoral, master's, bachelor's or associate degrees).
• ASCP/AMT or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process specimens and test orders for acceptability according to guidelines.
• Follow SOPs for specimen testing.
• Report results with clinical correlation where applicable.
• Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment per procedures.
• Maintain quality control and calibration records.
• Participate in proficiency testing and ensure proper sample handling.
• Manage inventory and check expiration dates.
• Assist with training of team members and students.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
