Job summary

Atlantic Health System's Morristown Medical Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to process specimens and perform high/moderate complexity testing under supervision. You will report accurate results, troubleshoot issues, and maintain quality control in a fast-paced clinical laboratory.

You'll work with HIS and LIS systems, follow SOPs, participate in proficiency testing, inventory management, and training, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance across all laboratory operations

Qualifications

• Must meet the CLIA personnel requirements for High Complexity testing.
• One year healthcare or lab related work experience preferred.
• ASCP, AMT or defined equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Specimen Processing and Accessioning: Evaluates specimens and test orders for acceptability and accepts or rejects according to established guidelines.
• Specimen Testing: Follows approved standard operating procedures.
• Result Reporting: Correlates test results with diagnosis and previous results as applicable.
• Equipment Operation: Operates, maintains and troubleshoots all technical equipment according to SOPs.
• Quality Control: Documents instrument calibrations and maintenance and follows QC policies.
• Proficiency Testing: Participates in proficiency testing and ensures samples are treated as patient samples.
• Inventory Management: Rotates stock and checks supply expiration dates to ensure availability.
• Training: Assists with training of team members and students.
• Safety: Demonstrates knowledge and practice of safety procedures.
