Job summary

Atrium Health in High Point, NC is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist to perform, evaluate and monitor a broad range of laboratory tests across transfusion services, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology and flow cytometry.

You will calibrate instruments, document QC, supervise staff, and coordinate test results for critical care areas such as ED, ICU and OR, while ensuring compliance with CAP standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory sciences or medical technology related field.
• Certification or eligibility in MT/MLS within 1 year as per ASCP/AMT.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests within established protocols.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and reports appropriately.
• Calibrates, maintains, and repairs instruments and equipment; handles malfunctions.
• Documents quality control and quality assurance for ongoing improvement.
• Collects specimens from patients and ensures proper labeling.
• Provides training and supervision to staff and students as assigned.
• Ensures compliance with accreditation standards (CAP) and responsiveness in high acuity events.
• Performs specialty testing across transfusion services, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology, coagulation and flow cytometry.
