Job summary

Advocate Health’s Core Lab is seeking a part-time Laboratory Technician for the 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. shift with rotating weekends. The role involves performing and evaluating a variety of tests, maintaining instruments, and ensuring accurate reporting of results for critical care areas.

Candidates should hold an Associate degree or MLT credential (NAACLS/ASCP approved) and preferably AMT/ASCP certification. Excellent communication and adherence to safety and quality standards are required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or MLT program approved by NAACLS/ASCP or equivalent.
• AMT or ASCP certification preferred.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs and monitors laboratory tests per established protocols.
• Calibrates and maintains instruments; documents quality control.
• Recognizes instrument malfunctions and notifies supervisor.
• Collects specimens from patients with proper labeling and handling.
• Provides technical assistance to Phlebotomists and staff.
• Ensures compliance with accrediting standards and CAP requirements.
