Job summary

Indian Health Service is seeking a Medical Technician (Laboratory Support) to perform a variety of clinical laboratory tests across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking.

You will evaluate results, troubleshoot to ensure accuracy, and operate/maintain instruments, preparing reagents and culture media. Collect and process specimens and ensure LIS tracking, while upholding CAP/CLIA quality standards.

Qualifications

• GS-04/05/06/07 qualification paths including required lab experience.
• Requires US citizenship and background checks as part of federal employment.
• Six months general experience and six months specialized experience in lab support work.
• Education alternatives include associate degree with training in certified lab assistant program.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking.
• Evaluate results and troubleshoot to ensure accuracy.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain instruments; prepare reagents and culture media.
• Collect and process patient specimens; track and accession in laboratory information systems.
• Ensure quality assurance and compliance with CAP/CLIA standards.
