Qualifications

  • GS-4: Six months general experience and six months specialized experience or equivalent education.
  • GS-5: One year specialized experience or bachelor\'s degree, or a combination.
  • GS-6: One year specialized experience in clinical laboratory work and quality control; or related education.
  • GS-7: One year specialized experience in a broad set of lab tests and reporting; or graduate education.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, serology, immunology, and blood banking.
  • Evaluate test results and troubleshoot procedures to ensure accuracy.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments; prepare reagents and media; monitor quality control.
  • Collect and process patient specimens, assess specimen acceptability, and accession in lab systems.
  • Validate and document laboratory results, communicate with healthcare providers, and support CAP/CLIA compliance.
