Job summary

The Indian Health Service seeks a Medical Technician (Laboratory Support) to perform a range of clinical laboratory tests and collect specimens, contributing to accurate results in support of patient care in American Indian communities.

You will operate and maintain instruments, document quality control, and assist healthcare providers with test results, while adhering to CAP/CLIA standards and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• GS-4/GS-5/GS-6 level qualifications reflected by experience, education, or a combination.
• Experience in performing clinical laboratory tests and documenting results.
• Ability to collect and process specimens and maintain quality control.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology and serology.
• Evaluate results, troubleshoot and repeat procedures as needed.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain instruments and equipment.
• Collect and process patient specimens and track in lab systems.
• Document results and support quality assurance and safety compliance.
