Job summary

Indian Health Service seeks a Medical Technician (Laboratory Support) to perform a broad range of clinical tests across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking. You will collect specimens, document results, and support quality assurance and accreditation activities in a CAP/CLIA-compliant environment.

The role requires familiarity with laboratory information systems, strict adherence to safety protocols, and effective communication with healthcare

Qualifications

• Six months general experience.
• 2-3 sentences describing specialized lab support experience including performing tests and documenting findings.
• Completion of an associate degree with a year of certified lab assistant training is acceptable.
• One year of study with chemistry/biology plus a year-long lab program is acceptable.
• Two years of chemistry/biology study related to the position is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking.
• Evaluate test results and troubleshoot to ensure accurate results.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment; prepare reagents and culture media.
• Collect and process patient specimens and manage specimen workflow in LIS.
• Support quality assurance, CAP/CLIA compliance, and safety requirements.
