Job summary

University of California, Irvine Health is seeking a Hospital Lab Technician 2 to receive, process, and route clinical specimens within a fast-paced acute care setting. The role includes loading analyzers, handling specimen storage, and responding to inquiries from units and providers.

Phlebotomy license is preferred but not required; candidates should demonstrate strong customer service, communication, and teamwork as part of a busy health system.

Qualifications

• One-year lab tech experience in a fast paced acute care setting.
• Pathology knowledge and preferred pathology experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.

Responsibilities

• Receiving and processing of clinical laboratory specimens.
• Loading specimens in various analyzers.
• Scanning specimens for storage.
• Answering laboratory inquiries from hospital units or healthcare providers.
• Assisting with transportation of laboratory specimens to the East Tower building.
