Job summary

University of California, Irvine Health seeks a laboratory technician to perform specimen processing, testing, and related duties under supervision. You will assist in equipment maintenance, quality control, and inventory, while maintaining accurate records and data entry.

The role requires at least one year of clinical lab experience or a related education/experience mix, good communication, and flexibility for weekend/holiday shifts.

Qualifications

• One year clinical laboratory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Must be willing to provide weekend and holiday coverage on a rotational basis and variable shift assignment(s) as needed.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
• Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
• Minimum 16 units of applicable Science (such as Chemistry, Biology) and Algebra at the college level.
• Good computer skills including knowledge of various software applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform the full range of duties from specimen procurement through processing and testing according to established protocols.
• Assist in equipment maintenance, quality control, inventory control and data entry.
• Handle data entry and maintain records, and provide results.
