Job summary

University of California, Irvine Health seeks a Laboratory Technician to perform the full range of transfusion medicine procedures, from specimen procurement to processing of blood components, under supervision. Qualifications

One year clinical laboratory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Customer service skills appropriate to the job.
Willing to provide weekend and holiday coverage on a rotational basis and variable shift as needed.
Good communication skills.
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.

Responsibilities

Perform the full range of duties from specimen procurement through processing of specimens and blood components according to established protocols.
Assist in equipment maintenance, quality control, and allocation/issuing products for transfusion medicine; manage inventory.
Perform clerical functions including data entry, maintaining records, answering phones, and providing results.
