Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform tests, confirm results, and report findings to Pathologists and clinicians. You will handle specimen preparation, run complex panels, and ensure quality control and calibration of instruments.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Biological Science, ASCP certification or eligibility within 12 months, and proficiency with computers and Microsoft applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science / Medical Technology or Biological Science is required.
• ASCP certification as generalist or categorical Technologist or eligibility required; certification must be obtained within 12 months.
• Experience is not required, but preferred.
• Experience with computers and web-based applications, including Microsoft applications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for examination and perform complex tests per lab procedures.
• Operate automated equipment and instruments capable of multiple tests simultaneously.
• Conduct start-up, quality control, calibration, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Enter results into LIS and report critical/urgent results to providers.
• Participate in continuing education, QA/QI projects, and staff training.
• Assist in evaluating new methods and SOPs under laboratory leadership.
• Adhere to safety and infection control policies and OSHA guidelines.
• Provide clear written and oral communications with colleagues and clinicians.
• Balance multiple priorities and respond to inquiries from clients and staff.
