Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist for full-time night shifts with rotating weekends. You will perform complex tests across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank sections, while ensuring accuracy and quality control under CLIA and CFR guidelines.

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in a health science field, be ASCP-certified or equivalent preferred, and possess a current state license.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years hospital laboratory work experience required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or CLIA requirements stated in 42 CFR 493.1423.
• ASCP certification, or equivalent preferred.
• Current and valid State License where required.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived, moderate, or highly complex tests as authorized by CLIA and CFR requirements.
• Adhere to laboratory procedures for collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient results.
• Follow quality control policies and document corrective actions.
• Perform and document maintenance on instruments and equipment.
• Review accuracy of patient results before reporting.
• May perform venipuncture or capillary puncture across age groups.
• Assist in development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures.
• May be assigned responsibilities related to LIS and/or POC.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology

ASCP certification or equivalent (preferred)
