Job summary

Qualifications

• ASCP certification preferred.
• 1 year hospital laboratory work experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or CLIA-referenced education.
• Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived, moderate, or highly complex tests per CLIA CFR §493.1425 and §493.1495.
• Adhere to lab procedures for collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of results; document corrective actions.
• Follow QC policies and identify problems that affect test performance; notify supervisor/medical director.
• Perform and document maintenance on instruments/equipment daily, weekly, or as needed.
• Review accuracy of patient results prior to reporting; recognize age-related differences in results.
• May perform venipuncture or capillary puncture as needed from newborns to geriatrics.
• Assist in development and maintenance of lab policies and procedures; adhere to safety and infection control rules.
• In absence of supervisor, may serve as Lead Tech and supervise during shift; may handle LIS/POCT tasks.
