Job summary

Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, IL is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Technician for the Evening shift (3pm–11:30pm) in the Clinical Lab. The role covers Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, and related disciplines with proficiency in lab procedures and quality control.

The position requires ASCP certification or equivalent preferred, a Bachelor's degree in a health science field or MLT per CLIA, and at least two years hospital lab experience. A state license may be required.

Qualifications

• ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum two years of hospital laboratory work experience required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other CLIA-equivalent education.
• Current and valid state license if the laboratory is located in a state where required.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the laboratory’s procedures for the collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
• Follow the laboratory’s established quality control policies and procedures and document corrective actions when test systems deviate.
• Capable of identifying problems affecting test performance and report to supervisor or director.
• Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures across Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and other disciplines.
• Perform and document maintenance on instruments daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed.
• Review the accuracy of patient results prior to reporting.
• Recognize age-specific differences from newborns to geriatrics.
• Ensure proficiency testing samples are tested like patient samples and avoid collaboration with other labs before reporting results.
• May perform venipuncture or capillary puncture across age groups.
• Assist in development/maintenance of lab policies and procedures.
• Adhere to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and HR policies.
• In the absence of a supervisor, may be Lead Tech.”,
