Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for Chemistry on the night shift at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. This 40-hour per week position runs from 10pm to 6:30am with rotating weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities include pre-analytic processing, analytical testing, QC, and accurate result reporting to support patient care. Required is a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology/MLS or related field, ASCP eligibility, and certification within one year if hired

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field and ASCP eligibility.
• License/certification required; ASCP certification or eligible.
• If hired after 1/19/2025 must be ASCP certified within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-analytic workflow for the laboratory section; ensures correct orders and specimen suitability.
• Performs analytical testing following SOPs and standard procedures.
• Maintains QC, verifies and reports results; handles instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Ensures proper specimen labeling, processing, and post-analytic reporting within designated turnaround times.
