Job summary

Saint Joseph Medical Center - Joliet in Joliet, IL seeks a full-time Night shift Clinical Lab professional. Responsibilities include performing a broad range of laboratory tests, adhering to QC procedures, and maintaining instruments. A Lead Tech may be assigned in the absence of a supervisor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology is required or stated by CLIA.
• ASCP certification or equivalent is preferred.
• Current and valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to laboratory procedures for collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
• Follow quality control policies and document corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from specifications.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance and correct or report to supervisor or Medical Director.
• Perform diverse laboratory procedures across Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology and other disciplines.
• Perform and document maintenance on instruments and equipment; review patient result accuracy before release.
• May serve as Lead Tech in supervisor’s absence and may handle LIS and/or POCT responsibilities.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1423).

ASCP certification, or equivalent, preferred.

Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required.
