Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a certified phlebotomy course is required.
  • Minimum of 120 hours of clinical phlebotomy experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Identify patients using two identifiers (name and date of birth).
  • Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture (finger/heel sticks).
  • Respond to STAT blood work within 30 minutes and timed requests within ±15 minutes.
  • Utilize patient identification systems for inpatient draws.
  • Perform EKGs using GE carts and MUSE software.
  • Enter patient registration data into HIS and verify insurance for outpatients.
  • Transport and label specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Maintain infection control and safety procedures at all times.
  • Prepare, process, and store specimens for analysis.
  • Distribute lab reports to physician offices.
