Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Central Massachusetts is seeking a Central Processing Assistant/Phlebotomy role to collect blood specimens, perform venipuncture, prepare samples, and assist with EKGs in outpatient lab settings.

You will register patients in the hospital information system, verify insurance for outpatients, and maintain specimen integrity while delivering compassionate care and ensuring safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certified phlebotomy course completed.
• Minimum 120 hours of clinical phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture for blood samples.
• Collect, label, and transport specimens to the laboratory while maintaining integrity.
• Perform EKGs using GE carts and MUSE software.
• Register patient information in the HIS and verify insurance for outpatient labs.
• Provide patient communication and education during phlebotomy procedures.
