Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Central Processing Assistant in the outpatient lab. You will collect blood specimens, perform EKGs, and handle patient registration and insurance verification for lab outpatients.

Responsibilities include specimen handling, data entry in HIS, and coordination with the lab team to ensure timely processing and reporting. A signing bonus may be available; final offer varies by experience and equity considerations.

Qualifications

• Blood collection (venipuncture/capillary).
• EKG procedures using GE EKG carts and MUSE software.
• Patient registration and insurance verification for outpatients.

Responsibilities

• Identify patients with two unique identifiers.
• Perform routine and complex blood draws and ensure timely STAT requests.
• Process and transport specimens to the lab, maintaining integrity.
• Enter patient data into HIS and verify insurance.
• Provide guidance to students and new staff.
