Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Central Processing Assistant to collect and process blood specimens for laboratory analysis. You will perform blood draws, prepare specimens for testing, and conduct EKGs using GE carts and MUSE software.

Customer service and accurate registration are essential as you interact with outpatients and physicians. Responsibilities include specimen transport, labeling, and adherence to infection control policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified phlebotomy course completed.
• Minimum 120 hours of clinical phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Procure blood specimens from patients for laboratory procedures.
• Perform venipuncture and capillary draws with standard equipment.
• Perform EKGs using GE EKG carts and MUSE software.
• Register patients and verify insurance for outpatient tests.
• Maintain specimen integrity during transport and processing.
