Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Phlebotomy Specialist to join our laboratory team. You will perform routine specimen collection, receiving, triaging, and processing of requisitions and specimens, with data entry and labeling duties to ensure accurate patient results.

The role requires a High School diploma and familiarity with medical terminology; training is provided. This position may include a signing bonus, depending on interview assessment and internal equity considerations.

Qualifications

• High School graduate; familiarity with data entry and/or word processor and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Receives specimens and verifies counts.
• Logs and assigns accession numbers to specimens and requisitions.
• Sorts and triages requisitions and specimens to the appropriate workstation.
• Answers phones and communicates pertinent information; uses pneumatic tube system as needed.
• Performs specimen processing including centrifugation, pour-off, aliquoting and labeling.
• Registers outreach specimens from clients.
