Job summary

Orthopaedic Associates of Maine is seeking an IT Support Specialist to provide first-level technical support across its multi-site practice. You’ll respond to tickets, fix hardware and software issues, and set up workstations for clinicians and staff.

The role supports onboarding, small IT projects, and documentation. You will work under the VP of Informatics to ensure HIPAA-compliant, reliable access to clinical systems.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in IT or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 1–3 years in a help desk or technical support role.
• Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, Office 365, and basic networking.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, especially with clinical staff under time-sensitive conditions.
• Ability to organize tasks, track progress, and follow through on small IT projects.
• Ability to work calmly and efficiently in a healthcare environment.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• CompTIA A+ or similar certification preferred.
• Familiarity with EMR systems and healthcare applications is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incoming IT support requests via ticketing system, phone, and email
• Provide troubleshooting and resolution for hardware and software issues
• Set up and configure new workstations for staff
• Assist with onboarding of new employees by preparing user accounts and access
• Coordinate small IT projects under the direction of the VP of Informatics
• Document common issues and resolutions for knowledge sharing
• Escalate unresolved or complex issues to Tier 2 or Manager
• Ensure all support interactions are HIPAA-compliant
