Job summary

Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to support scheduling, pre-registration, financial clearance and authorization processes, delivering the first impression of AHN's services.

You will verify insurance, collect copays, enter demographic data, and coordinate with physicians and departments to keep appointments and billing accurate, while adhering to HIPAA and privacy policies.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
One year of related experience, preferably in a medical setting or financial services.
Experience operating a PC and using software applications.
HIPAA compliance and privacy policy familiarity.

Responsibilities

Gathers, prepares and sends billing for consults and testing at non-Epic facilities.
Responds to CRM requests for appointments and coordinates scheduling.
Balances and closes cash drawer in Epic; prepares deposits and verification.
Performs preregistration tasks: validating demographics and insurance information.
Collects copays and posts payments; verifies benefits and authorizations for visits and procedures.
Answers phone, messages, and relays information to patients and providers.
Supports chart preparation, mail handling, and general office duties.
