Job summary

NSPC is seeking a Medical Assistant in Tysons, VA to support providers and ensure smooth patient care. Responsibilities include triage, vitals, chart documentation, discharge instructions, and daily clinic operations.

You will work under the Center Manager and Providers, maintaining infection control standards and HIPAA compliance while coordinating between patients and clinical staff. Strong organizational skills required.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program preferred OR a minimum of two (2) years of clinical Medical Assistant experience, preferably in a specialty practice.
• At least one year of directly related experience, preferably in a group practice setting.
• Ability to take vital signs.
• General knowledge of healthcare and medical terminology.
• Working knowledge of insurance criteria pertaining to patient lab tests, X-rays, and other procedures.
• Excellent patient care skills and awareness of the legal implications of work and words in healthcare.
• General knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
• Excellent organizational/multi-tasking skills with acute attention to details
• Aptitude to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
• Ability to learn and use new software technologies for electronic patient medical records and practice management scheduling systems

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in waiting area, exam room, and procedure room.
• Prepare patients for care, ensuring comfort and safety.
• Manage daily patient flow and act as liaison between Providers and patients.
• Monitor clinical messages and relay responses to patients.
• Organize, clean, and prepare exam, procedure, and recovery rooms.
• Document patient charts: vitals, meds, allergies, orders.
• Provide discharge/follow-up instructions and educational materials.
• Assist with follow-up calls for procedures.
• Follow infection control procedures and OSHA policies.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and privacy.
• Assess medical equipment daily and report malfunctions.
• Assist with administrative duties when not performing patient care.
• Comply with NSPC policies and healthcare regulations.
• Annual compliance training and reporting issues.
• All other duties as assigned.
