Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Immediate Care Technician role supports physicians and APPs by ensuring efficient patient flow, preparing exam rooms, and performing related administrative tasks. You will interact with patients professionally, safeguard confidentiality, and help maintain a safe clinical area.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Within first six months of employment, will complete one of the following certifications after up to two test attempts: CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, or NRCMA.
Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic or EMT – Basic certification OR Illinois EMT License.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

Assures efficient patient flow through the site and escorts patient to exam room.
Obtains accurate vital signs per organization standards and documents visit details.
Assists MD/APP with medical procedures such as ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, wound care, and CLIA-waived testing.
Prepares and stocks exam rooms, maintains supplies and cleans/disinfects equipment.
Responds to needs to expedite visits and supports referrals, transfers, and discharge processes.
Maintains patient confidentiality and interacts professionally with patients and care team.
