Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking an experienced Trimmer with climbing experience to join our utility line clearance team serving Hudson, Ohio. This full-time, on-site role offers a CDL‑friendly path and opportunities to work with various climbing systems.

You must have a valid driver’s license; CDL is preferred. Orientation, First Aid/CPR, and defensive driving training are required on hire, with strong preference for line clearance experience and pesticide licenses where applicable.

Qualifications

• Must be able to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program.
• Must complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Required: valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License‑Class A or B with Air Brake Endorsement.
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work.
• Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Perform pruning and removal for major electric utility providers.
• Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal.
• Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects.
• Apply tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines.
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts.
• Operate as an active crew member with ground crew and foreperson.
