Job summary

First Merchants Bank seeks a Customer Relationship Representative to join our team. You will drive individual and team sales and service metrics while delivering high-quality customer service through accurate banking transactions and account openings.

You will engage clients to assess financial needs, recommend products and digital tools, and maintain accurate records, all while upholding internal controls and compliance across the banking center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year banking or sales experience; minimum 6 months selling products/services.
• S.A.F.E Act registration required upon employment (NMLS) and must meet qualifications within 3 months.
• Ability to obtain Notary Public designation.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• In-depth knowledge of bank products and services.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality customer service addressing banking needs in a relationship-focused environment.
• Engage clients to understand financial needs and recommend products and digital solutions.
• Resolve inquiries and complaints with timely, positive client experience.
• Use feedback to strengthen client relationships and create advocates.
• Maintain accurate client records to support relationship management.
• Process deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, checks, and other transactions.
• Balance cash, teller cash recyclers, vault, ATM, and branch transactions.
• Process stop payments, debit card orders, address changes, and check orders per policy.
• Adhere to internal controls and daily security procedures; ensure compliance with policies.
• Monitor and resolve deposit and loan exceptions and escalate as needed.
• Lead and participate in sales activities to meet scorecard goals.
• Use CRM and sales tools to document interactions and incentives.
• Identify new business opportunities and refer to merchant services, treasury, mortgages, and investments.
• Support manager with audits, balancing, and efficiency initiatives.
• Serve as a resource for associates on procedures and questions.
• Comply with regulations including BSA, OFAC, CIP, EDD, and information security; complete required training.
